You can move around the map in a number of ways: you can zoom in, zoom out and pan
(shift the map around)
Zoom In (Enlarge the map)
- Left mouse click on the 'Map' tab at the top of the page
- If you have a mouse wheel you can hover the cursor over the image and spin the wheel
to zoom in (or out)
- In the Map window, click the "+" symbol
- Move the scale slider by selecting the slider with the mouse cursor, holding a left
click and moving towards the top of the page
- With the cursor in the map window, drag a box to zoom to by depressing shift, holding
a left mouse click whilst moving the mouse. Unclick to zoom to the box.
Zoom Out (Shrink the map)
- Left mouse click on the 'Map' tab at the top of the page
- If you have a mouse wheel you can hover the cursor over the image and spin the wheel
to zoom in (or out)
- In the Map window, click the "-" symbol
- Move the scale slider by selecting the slider with the mouse cursor, holding a left
click and moving towards the bottom of the page
Pan
- Left mouse click on the 'Map' tab at the top of the page
- With the cursor in the map window, left mouse click and hold. This grabs the map.
- Keeping the left mouse button clicked, move the cursor to move the map.
- Unclick to view the map in it's new location.
Adding maps
- Left mouse click on the 'Map' tab at the top of the page
- In the 'Show Layers' section of the map controls
- Click on the '+' symbol next to a section heading, e.g. 'Waste and Recycling'
- Click the checkbox next to the map you want to make visible, e.g. 'Recycle centre
points'
- When a check is visible next to the map layer the map will be drawn
- The map will be visible on top of the background mapping within the map window
Removing maps
- Left mouse click on the 'Map' tab at the top of the page
- In the 'Show Layers' section of the map controls
- Click on the '+' symbol next to a section heading, e.g. 'Waste and Recycling' to
reveal the maps available
- Click the checkbox next to the map you want to remove, e.g. 'Recycle centre points'
- The check should be removed and the map window will refresh without the map layer
- The map should be visible on the screen on top of the background mapping
Interrogating the map
You can find out more information about the information on the map by tool tips
and clicking on a feature.
- From the 'active map' section of the Map Tools choose the map layer you are interested
in (the list is made up of the layers that are visible, see the
help on adding Map above.
- To view information about layers
- Hover the cursor over the map and a tool tip displaying basic information will appear
- Clicking once with the left mouse button, more detailed information will appear
on screen
