Last Modified March 25, 2013

Want to be a part of a professional dance photo and video shoot? Want to learn new techniques in fashion styling, hair and make-up?

And want to do it all for FREE?

If you are female, aged 13 to 17 and live in Hertsmere then now is your chance.

Us Girls project leaders

What is it about?
Us Girls! is about gaining some new creative skills to help girls with their self-confidence and self-respect while providing them with some fitness, fun and practical creative skills.

Who is it for?
It is open to girls aged 13 to 17 who live in Hertsmere.

What will I learn?
A four week taster offers an introduction to each of the creative elements – fashion styling, hair techniques, makeup and learning street dance.

You will learn how to create the latest fashion look without spending a fortune, using make-up and hair styling effectively, customising clothes and learn a choreographed dance routine to music that your group chooses.

The taster sessions then lead to a 10-week programme which will end with a professional photo shoot and a stylised dance video shoot created by you with support and direction from the two experienced project leaders.

Where is it being held?
The Venue Leisure Centre, Elstree Way, Borehamwood

When is being held?
The first of the four week tasters started on Friday 1 March, but there is still time to join. The taster sessions run from 7pm to 9pm, ending Friday 22 March.

This will then lead to a 10-week creative project, which will run every Friday from 12 April to 21 June.

The final film and photography shoot day is on Sunday 23 June.

How much does it cost?
It is completely FREE of charge and has been funded thanks to Hertsmere Borough Council, StreetGames, Child UK and Sportivate.

Who has developed it?
Hertsmere Borough Council’s Youth Projects Team in conjunction with Child UK

Who leads it?
Project leaders are Corina and Duran, pictured, who between them have lots of experience in dance, dance instruction, fashion styling and creative arts.

How do I book?
Places are limited so you need to register in advance, giving your name, age, area you live in and contact number. Text or call 07832 205 787 or Tweet @Corina_Best

Welcome to Hertsmere Borough Council’s new website. In February this website will replace the existing www.hertsmere.gov.uk site as the best place to find information about Hertsmere and the services it offers.

Until then, you can explore the website by using this experimental trial (‘beta’) version.

PLEASE BE AWARE – this is a test website. It may contain inaccuracies or be misleading and links may not work. You should not use this site to contact us. Our old website remains the official website for Hertsmere until the end of February.
