Furzefield is home to the Furzefield Leisure Centre which is run on behalf of the council by Hertsmere Leisure.
The site contains woodland, meadow, football pitches and two play areas.
Furzefield Wood is a small ancient woodland that has a long tradition of hazel coppicing dating back hundreds of years and we continue to manage them in this way.
On Sunday 15 December, join the Countryside Management Service between 10am and noon to see this traditional management in progress. This is a great opportunity to see items produced and see their extraction from the woodland by the use of Suffolk Punch horses. There will also be short guided walks around the woodland looking at the management of the woodland and the wildlife this benefits.
There is no need to book but please make sure you wear appropriate footwear and clothing! Entrance to the woodland is from the Lower Halfpenny Bottom entrance on Cranbourne Road.
