Sports pitches and courts

There are a number of sports pitches and courts in the borough.

Where can I find information on sports pitches and how can I hire one?

Astro Turf (football and hockey)

A floodlit 5-a-side astro turf pitch is available at Bushey Grove Leisure Centre, Bushey.  For further details please call 01923 470140.

A full size floodlit pitch is available at the Furzefield Centre  Potters Bar. It is also used for six-a-side football and hockey. For further details please call 01707 850500. 

Bowls

There aren't any public bowling lawns in the borough, but there are two bowling clubs - one in Meadow Park, Borehamwood and one in King George Recreation Ground, Bushey.  You can find more on our Sports Club page

Cricket

The borough does not have any public cricket pitches, but there are private clubs - see our Sports Club page .

Football

There are a variety of football pitches across the borough. Bookings must be made in advance.

Rugby

There is one public rugby pitch in Meadow Park, Borehamwood.

Bookings must be made in advance.  For further information please call John O'Conner (Grounds Maintenance) Ltd on 01727 844638.  The majority of clubs book for a whole seasons use of a pitch.

Tennis

There are public tennis courts available free of charge at:

• Meadow Park, Borehamwood
• King George Recreation Ground, Bushey

Please note that the courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

For block bookings or training sessions, a charge will be made and the court will need to be booked in advance. 

Please note, during the summer holidays training sessions are held regularly at both locations.  For further information contact the  Parks Team.

Aldenham Parish Council and Bushey Grove Leisure Centre also have tennis courts and facilities available.

Are sports pitches available for competitions?

Yes, sports pitches are available for competitions. You should book early to avoid disappointment. Please contact our Parks Team for advice about different locations, availability and whether a pitch or court suits your needs.
