Non-Dependants
If someone over 18 lives with you such as an adult son or daughter, then this may affect the amount of benefit you receive.
In some cases we must make a deduction (which is fixed by Central Government) that is intended to reflect the fact that any non-dependant will be making a contribution towards household expenses.
Amounts vary depending on their circumstances and some examples from April 2011 are shown below:
