Council tax set

Council tax charges for the coming year have been approved by Hertsmere Borough Council.

At the full council meeting on 27 February, the council tax levy for the borough, town and parish councils for 2008/09 was set at an average increase of 3.8%, the equivalent of an extra 12 pence per household, per week for a B and D taxpayer - an increase of £6.42 for the year on the 2007/08 figure.

Of the total council tax you pay, 77% goes to Hertfordshire County Council, 10% goes to Hertfordshire Police Authority, 2% goes to your local parish or town council if you have one, and 11% will come to us as the Borough Council.
