All enclosed or substantially enclosed public places and work vehicles in England are now smokefree.
This includes pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants, cafés, shops, public transport, workplaces and the shared parts of residential properties e.g. public stairwells in a block of flats.
The purpose of this legislation is to protect workers from secondhand smoke. It means that you, your staff, customers and visitors are not allowed to smoke or possess any lit substances (eg tobacco, herbs, pipes/shisha pipes) within your organisation's premises if they are wholly or substantially enclosed.
