Commercial waste - hazardous waste removal

Details of hazardous waste regulations and a list of specialist waste collection companies

Hazardous Waste Regulations came into force on July 16, 2005. This has implications for businesses in Hertsmere as a number of items have been newly classified as hazardous and can longer be taken away as normal refuse. Newly classified hazardous waste items include TV’s, computer monitors, fridges, engine oil, and a large number of fluorescent tubes.

Additionally, businesses that produce this waste are now legally responsible for the disposal of hazardous waste and therefore need to check that the waste disposal company they use is registered to carry hazardous waste.

As a consequence businesses that use our trade waste service will no longer be able to dispose of these newly classified items, as part of a special collection. Therefore, businesses that use our service and would like to dispose of hazardous waste items will need to contact companies that can dispose of their hazardous waste.

Below is a list of hazardous items and companies that will be able to recycle tham or dispose of them in the correct manner.
