The Council is responsible for licening of Gambling Premises and Gaming machines by the Gambling Act 2005. This cames into force in September 2007

Under the Gaming Act 1968, a permit is needed for premises that provide amusements with prizes by way of machines.
A gaming machine licence is required in respect of premises providing amusements with prizes by way of machines.
The Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976 (as amended by the National Lottery etc. Act 1993) controls the conduct of small lotteries, raffles etc. by societies raising money for charitable, sports and other similar purposes, otherwise than for personal gain.
