Don’t take a gamble on policy
14-Jul-2009 22:26:18
Don't miss your chance to have a say on the gambling policy - that is the message from Hertsmere Borough Council.
The council is asking for your input on the gambling policy as it reaches its three year review.
The current gambling policy came into effect in September 2007 in line with government legislation - the council prepared a gambling policy and statement, which explained how it will operate the licensing scheme for the next three years.
Phil Andrews, Principal Licensing Officer, said: "The current licensing policy came into effect in 2007 and we have to review the policy every three years to ensure it is still valid, current and applicable to both our needs and those affected.
“Premises that hold any form of bingo, betting shop, amusements with prizes, gaming machines permit or a small society lottery are affected by the gambling policy. It is vital that those people affected have the opportunity to feedback their views on how Hertsmere deal with licensing."
The consultation runs until 1 August and all responses must be received by this date. Where possible, and in accordance with the Gambling Commission Guidance and the Gambling Act, responses will be incorporated into the policy.
There is an on-line questionnaire on the council’s website to take part.
