West Herts Against Crime (WHAC)

WHAC is a charity working with Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership (CSP). 

What they do

WHAC, as part of the Herts Home Safety and Security Service, offer free home safety and security checks for Hertsmere residents.

Technicians are trained to carry out free home security checks.  Where needed, a handyman service then fits security devices such as door and window locks, spyholes, bolts and door chains free for the over 60's, disabled, lone parents, repeat victims of burglary or victims of hate crime and domestic violence.

The technicians also carry out risk assessments of fire safety and fire escape plans.  They will check that properties have at least one smoke detector per floor, which is the recommended minimum and install or replace as necessary.
