Take Part

The Take Part pathfinder programme is funded by Communities and Local government (CLG) and endorsed by Hertsmere Together, Local Strategic Partnership.

The Take Part project aimed to:

  • build the skills and confidence of local people so that they can pursue civic activism, community leadership and social action
  • support people and organisations in developing an understanding of barriers to participation, and how to overcome those barriers
  • raise awareness of routes into lay governance roles, especially those involving Local Strategic Partnership partners, and to support people in their progression through those routes

The project involved focusing on the Cowley Hill ward.  Community Action Hertsmere delivered the project with Hertsmere Borough Council, partners from the third sector and statutory organisations from the Community Shop and other community locations in Cowley Hill to equip residents with the skills to help them become more active citizens, participate in decision-making and increase social action.

This project lasted for two years and although it has come to an end it's legacy remains in the area. The evaluation and summary of the project show it's success, enrolling ove 500 participants. Many have gone on to become school governors, volunteers and gain employment as a result of the take part project.
