Create a safer environment & increase the feelings of safety

Create a safer environment & increase the feelings of safety

Hertsmere Together partners will work together to help make Hertsmere a safer place to live, work and visit.  Partners will develop and support initiatives to avert incidents of crime and prevent people engaging in crime and anti-social behaviour.

Despite Hertsmere being one of the safest places to live in the country, fear of crime is still relatively high.  Hertsmere Together will support work to reassure the public that Hertsmere is a safe place.

A number of factors other than crime contribute to creating a safer environment.  Hertsmere Together partners will work together to educate residents about how to keep themselves safe in all aspects of their life including: road safety, fire safety and personal safety in the home and workplace.

Hertsmere Together will also support initiatives to keep vulnerable residents safe by combating domestic violence and nuisance behaviour.  This work will be largely delivered through the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.

Hertsmere Together will work towards creating a safer environment  and increasing the feelings of safety by:

  • Reducing crime: prioritising vehicle crime, burglary, domestic violence, race hate and crimes of local concern.
  • Reducing anti-social behaviour and alcohol-related disorder.
  • Building community confidence and reducing the fear of crime for people of all ages.
  • Improving and sustaining Hertsmere's environment
  • Broadening and changing the ways in which we engage with communities.

Action Plan to follow shortly.
