Combatting poverty and narrowing the gap.

Hertsmere Together partners will work together to promote and develop Hertsmere as a thriving and prosperous place, by encouraging regeneration of the local economy, inward investment and community regeneration. 

Partners will work to develop employment and training opportunities to maintain low levels of unemployment, increase opportunities for local residents and sustain an active labour market. 

Hertsmere Together will also develop and support initiatives to ensure that the skills of local residents meet the needs of the local economy and will work together to source external funding to support regeneration initiatives and community development.

Hertsmere Together partners will work together to remove barriers to learning and promote lifelong learning for all, to allow residents to reach their full potential.  Hertsmere Together will also develop and support initiatives to improve achievements and qualifications and build skills and confidence.

Hertsmere Together will work towards combatting poverty and narrowing the gap by:

• Helping people to get back into work, through initiatives such as training, volunteering, help with CVs and interviewing, improving aspirations and motivations.
• Helping people coming off benefits to get back into work and raise awareness of opportunities.
• Helping people to avoid falling into unmanageable debt.
• Increase entrepreneurial activity amongst the local population.
• Support and implement actions which will help community development and capactiy building.
