Donald Graham, the council's Chief Executive, said: "Each of our challenges were completely different, but it was nice to be able to donate the money we raised to charities chosen by our staff. This was the first time we have done a charity challenge like this, but hopefully it won’t be the last."
Glen Wooldrige, the Director of Environment, was the first one to take up the challenge. He raised £233.17 in a staff draw, which if their ticket was pulled out of the bag got their vehicle thoroughly cleaned. One lucky person also won a £50 Zinco restaurant voucher - with thanks to Zinco’s restaurant and Fitness Hand Car Wash in Borehamwood.
Sajida Bijle, Hertsmere’s Director of Resources, completed her charity challenge by working on the front reception at the Civic Offices for half a day. Sajida raised £179 for charity, and donated prizes for a staff raffle.
