Children thrilled by free rides

It was all the fun of fair at a special event held in Borehamwood yesterday, Sunday.

Children with special needs from Noah's Ark play scheme were given free rides on the fun fair at Meadow Park, Borehamwood.

Noah's Ark play scheme caters for children aged three to 16 years old with varying degrees of special needs.  The play scheme is open for four weeks during the summer holiday and can also take care of siblings to give parents total respite.  The event, now in its seventh year, has been organised by Hertsmere Borough Council with Bolesworth and Mannings Fun Fair.

Cllr Brenda Batten, portfolio holder for leisure, culture and health, said: "This is the seventh year we have run this event now and it's a real boost to know the children get so much from it.  We always strive to make our activities accessible to the whole community and the rides are adjusted on the day to take into consideration the special needs of the children. We are very grateful to the fair operators for their support."

Around 30 children had the entire funfair free between 11am and 12.30pm.
