Fun and games in Bushey and Radlett

National Play Day at The Moatfield in Bushey on Monday 2 Augustwas a great success, with lots of children having fun and getting involved with different activities for free.

For the first time, the national event is being held in all the three main towns of the borough, with similar days being held at Oakmere Park in Potters Bar Wednesday 4 August and at Aberford Park in Borehamwood on Friday 6 August, from 12pm to 3pm.
There was lots on offer at The Moatfield for people of all ages including decorating t-shirts with the rolling base project, planting seeds and learning about recycling, a medieval-themed puppet show, face painting, badge making, games and different sports which children could try for the first time.
Free kites were also given out at the event which finished at 3pm - and young people were still flying them when a play ranger session started at 6pm!
, attended the day. She also visited one of the council's play schemes at Fairfield Primary School in Radlett last week where she was asked for her autograph!
The ‘artplay’ scheme was fully booked with 55 creative children making beaded key rings, designing their own bags and learning a variety of painting techniques among other fun and games. The children were very excited when the Mayor walked through the door and asked her to sign their artwork.
Mayor Cllr Linda Silver said: "It's so lovely to visit these events and see the youngsters having so much fun. The play schemes and play events are great opportunities for children to make friends and try different activities."
A 'dramaplay' scheme will take place at Fairfield School for a week from 16 August. This scheme is focused around a special production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
All the council's play schemes are aimed at five to 11-year-olds.
