Cash grants available

A number of local groups have had a share of more than £20,000 in the first round of grants for the current financial year - but there is still time to apply for money.
The council offers small capital grants up to a maximum of £3,000 to local voluntary and community groups for a variety of 'one-off' purposes. Applications for the second round must be submitted to the council by Friday 4 September 2009.

Citizens Advice Bureau - £3,000
Hertfordshire Band Academy - £500
Hertsmere Community Transport - £3,000
Hertsmere Flyers Swimming Club - £1,100
Herts Visual Aid Forum - £300
Pair Dance - £446
Potters Bar Hockey Club - £610
Potters Bar Petanque Club - £600
Potters Bar Town Football Club - £1,000
Radlett Music Club - £180
Shenley Village Cricket Club - £1,000
St Michaels and All Angels Church - £1,500
The Royal British Legion Club, Bushey - £1,000
The Vibe Youth Project - £1,000
Thors Hammer Gaming Club - £1,000
Watford and District Mencap Society - £1,500
Total = £21,136
Funding priority is given to those organisations where a grant will make a contribution towards achieving the council’s corporate goals such as encouraging economic prosperity and promoting healthy living, leisure and cultural opportunities.
The grant scheme is for local organisations only. Larger regional and national charities/organisations can apply, however applications must be for a specific project within Hertsmere that will benefit local residents. Grants cannot be given to individuals or used for general running costs.
