Around 100 children and young people from Hertsmere are entering the Herts Youth Games next Saturday 26 June.
They will be among 1000 youngsters taking part in the event, from each of the 10 local authority areas in Hertfordshire.
Cllr Brenda Batten, Leisure, Culture and Health portfolio holder, said: "This is a great opportunity for young people to work as a team and take part in their favourite sports. I know everyone involved is looking forward to the competitions and will be supporting each other throughout the day."
The day will be a big celebration of sport in Hertfordshire with the ultimate prize of the Victor Ludrum trophy for the district with the most points. Competitions include aquathlon, badminton, basketball, cricket, football and netball.
Each of the participants has been either nominated by a teacher or put themselves forward to take part in the events. Not all of the young people involved are regular sports players, so this may be the first time they have taken part in an event of this size and represented Hertsmere.
If you fancy going along on Saturday to support the teams, you will also have the opportunity to see Pilot Pete the mascot of the air ambulance and have a look in the helicopter before 3pm.
