It was all the fun of fair at a special event held in Borehamwood on Sunday.

Children with special needs from Noah's Ark play scheme were given free rides on the fun fair at Meadow Park, Borehamwood.

Noah's Ark play scheme caters for children aged three to 16 years old with varying degrees of special needs.  The play scheme is open for four weeks during the summer holiday and can also take care of siblings to give parents total respite.  The event, now in its fourth year, has been organised by Hertsmere Borough Council with Bolesworth and Mannings Fun Fair.

Rochelle Gould, Play Scheme Co-ordinator at Noah's Ark, said: "We are very grateful to the council for this great opportunity for the children to have a fun day out.  There were more than 40 children on the day and they really enjoy it every year.  We hope this arrangement can continue in the future as it's a brilliant day which gives the children the opportunity to have a go on all the rides in their own time."

Shaz Setoudeh, Parks Events and Project Officer at Hertsmere Borough Council, said: "This is the fourth year we have run this event now and it's a real boost to know the children get so much from it.  We always strive to make our activities accessible to the whole community and the rides are adjusted on the day to take into consideration the special needs of the children."
