A world of adventure for young people

Around 135 young people from Hertsmere got in a spin when they descended on Chessington World of Adventures.

The students - aged from 11 to 16 - came from Queens' School in Bushey, Mount Grace School in Potters Bar and Hertswood School in Borehamwood.  Although the trip was open to anyone, it included young people on Acceptable Behaviour Agreements and Anti-social Behaviour Orders who have responded well to intervention and changed their behaviour. The schools also used a large number of tickets to reward good attendance and behaviour.

Councillor John Donne, Community Safety and Transport Portfolio Holder, said: "The trip formed part of Hertsmere's summer diversionary activities as August is traditionally a 'hot-time' for anti-social behaviour.

"Young people who have previously been involved with anti-social behaviour but have changed their ways were also invited.  This isn't about treating naughty kids, it's about rewarding young people who have actively changed their behaviour for the better."

The trip was organised and funded by Hertsmere Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership which includes Hertsmere Borough Council and Hertfordshire Constabulary.
