Application forms for the second round of grant aid in the current financial year 2008/09 are available now.
The council offers small capital grants up to a maximum of £3,000 to local voluntary and community groups based in Hertsmere or operating for the benefit of residents in Hertsmere. Large regional and national charities and organisations can apply but applications must be for a specific project within Hertsmere that will benefit local residents. The grant scheme is not open to individuals or profit making organisations.
A grant can be given for a variety of one-off purposes such as:
- the purchase of equipment
- marketing costs
- start up costs for a new project.
Unfortunately the council cannot provide funding towards a group's general running costs.
Priority will be given to applications that can demonstrate the grant will make a contribution towards the council's corporate goals. However, the council recognises that some worthwhile causes do not explicitly correspond with these goals so these applications will be considered on their individual merits.
The council awarded just over £13,000 to 16 organisations in the first round of grants this year, as detailed below:
- Borehamwood Athletic Club - £400
