It’s a dream come true! Everyone at Watford Mencap has the opportunity to go on free rides at the funfair.
Between 1.30pm and 3.30pm children and adults with learning disabilities are having a whole funfair to themselves on Wednesday 16 August at King George Park in Bushey.
The event has been organised by the Parks Department at Hertsmere Borough Council, with Amer's Family Funfair, for Watford Mencap’s Leisure Together service.
Brenda Pegg, the Leisure Together Co-ordinator for Hertsmere is enthusiastic about the event: “Our members have been looking forward to this event so much and we are very grateful for the support we receive from the Hertsmere Parks team and John Amer and his family. This exclusive use of the funfair gives our members a brilliant day out and it’s a real boost to confidence when people are not rushed and can try everything out in their own time."
Shaz Setoudeh, who organised the event, said: "This will be the third year we have run the event with Amer's Family Funfair and it is always really well received by the members of Leisure Together and their families who have an entire funfair to themselves.
"The music is turned down and the rides adjusted to people’s needs so that children and adults can enjoy a day at the fair. It is part of our protocol to encourage funfairs that come to Hertsmere, to feedback to the local community."
