Hertsmere Borough Council has welcomed the appointment of Jeremy Pelzer to head Elstree Film Studios for an interim period.

Jeremy will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the studio business, developing new initiatives, extending partnerships within the media sector, and raising the profile of Elstree within the international film and television industries.

He has been appointed for a six month period, following approval in February by the council's executive to fund a post to provide additional support to  Sajida Bijle in the management of the studios and other leisure facilities while she continues as Acting Chief Executive for the council.

Sajida said: "We are fortunate to have secured Jeremy in this role and I am looking forward to working with him. We feel he will provide much needed support to the board and be an asset in the management of the studios."

Cllr Morris Bright, chairman of the studio's board, said: "Jeremy has worked extensively in the film and television industry and will bring valuable experience to this role. There is a lot of work to be done at the studios and Jeremy will play a crucial role in driving this work forward."

Mr Pelzer said: "I am delighted to have been appointed to such an established and world famous studio and thoroughly look forward to continuing Elstree Studios' successes for the future."

Jeremy was Studio Director of Ealing Studios from 2002 to 2007 and managed the renewal of 3 Mills Studios in 2001.  During his career in feature production he was heavily involved in development of both Hertfordshire based Leavesden and Park Street Studios for the productions of Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies.
