A multi-million pound upgrade to underground water mains begins inBorehamwood and Shenley next week, 26 March.
Three Valleys Water is investing £4.2 million to upgrade 26kms of the network of underground water mains which carry vital supplies of water each day in and around Borehamwood and Shenley.
Some of these existing water mains were laid 70 years ago and are reaching the end of their useful lives. By replacing targeted sections of the water mains network, Three Valleys Water hopes to prevent further bursts and aims to ensure that the tap water supplied to local people will be of the highest quality for many years to come.
The work is planned to start in March and should be completed by the end of the year. It is being carried out on behalf of Three Valleys Water by their contractor, Balfour Beatty Utilities Ltd.
All residents directly affected by this scheme will be contacted by Three Valleys Water to keep them informed about the work. A leaflet with some Q and As is attached here (Water Pipe Q and A pdf), but for all the latest information on the work and the specific streets involved please visit the Three Valleys Water website www.3valleys.co.uk and click on planned work in your area.
