A sporting club house is moving a step closer to a new floor, with help from a grant from Elstree ward councillor Morris Bright.
The £250 grant from the Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS) will go towards the £1800 total needed to repair the rotten floor timbers at Elstree Cricket Club.
Cllr Morris Bright said: “The club exists to provide the opportunity for the local community to play, watch and enjoy cricket. The clubhouse also serves as a venue for the community so I was more than happy to help.”
Local people can make a bid for cash from the WIIS scheme to improve the area they live in. Each Hertsmere borough councillor gets £1,000 to support local projects and schemes.
