The general and local borough elections take place on Thursday 6 May.
Voting
To be eligible to vote, you must be registered on the electoral roll. The last day for the council to receive applications for residents to go on the electoral roll is 5pm Tuesday 20 April.
Those eligible to vote will receive a poll card with details of where they can vote. Please note that you must vote at your allocated poll station and it is helpful if you take your poll card with you, although you don’t have to.
If you are unable to vote in person you can vote by post or nominate someone to vote on your behalf (voting by proxy).
The last day for the council to receive new applications to vote by post or to change existing vote details is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April.
The last day for the council to receive new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm on Tuesday 27 April.
The deadline for the council to receive new applications to vote by proxy on grounds of a medical emergency is 5pm on Thursday 6 May.
Ballot papers
If you are already registered to vote by post you will automatically receive your ballot paper and will need to return it in the freepost envelope provided, or you can take it to your designated poll station within the election ward or to the Civic Offices in Borehamwood by the close of voting on the day of election.
For those who are returning their vote in the post we are urging you to do so as soon as you receive your ballot papers.
Voting on the day
Voting takes place between 7am and 10pm on Thursday 6 May.
If you are entitled to vote you will be sent your polling card with details of where you can vote.
Counting of votes and election results
The count for the general election will take place on the same night, Thursday 6 May, with results expected in the early hours of Friday morning, 7 May.
The results will be posted on our website.
The count for the borough election will take place on Friday 7 May. It is due to start at approximately 9.30am and it is expected that results will be available mid-afternoon on Friday.

Details of candidates standing for the borough election will be published on our website in the afternoon of Tuesday 13 April.
