Children will be able to practise their singing skills thanks to a grant from a local councillor.
North Bushey Baptist Church was looking for funding to help buy a portable personal announcement and karaoke system for the free youth group it runs for local secondary school children. Cllr Leslie Winters stepped in to help, allocating £450 towards the project from his Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS) money.
Owen Harvey, church secretary, said: “Paul Hayler and the other volunteers work hard to keep the youth busy. Many of the group enjoy music and singing. The new equipment will allow them to sing along to their favourite songs, as well as the chance to learn how to mix and balance sounds.”
Cllr Leslie Winters, Bushey North ward councillor, said: "I am delighted, in this season of good will, to offer funding to the North Bushey Baptist Church that so richly serves this community. I sincerely hope that this gift will bring happiness to its members."
Local people can make a bid for cash from the WIIS scheme to improve the area they live in. Each Hertsmere borough councillor gets £1,000 to support local projects and schemes.
