School gets recycling boost

Bushey Meads School is set to expand its recycling, thanks to a £1,000 boost from the council.

Councillor Laura Gray has allocated £1,000 of her Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS) money to the school to buy sorting bins which will be placed around the school to encourage pupils to recycle.

Elsewhere in the borough Councillor Penny Swallow has allocated £795 to replace the fire exit doors at Maxwell Road Guide Hut in Borehamwood while Councillors Dr Harvey Cohen and Darren Solomons have allocated £1,874.75 and £799.26 respectively for replacement carpets at Aberford Community Centre, Borehamwood.

Local people can make a bid for cash to improve the area they live in by using WIIS, which allows each Hertsmere councillor to spend £2,000 on projects within their ward.
