Archery club hits the spot

An archery club will be set up for Potters Bar Girl Guiding Association thanks to the latest monies from Hertsmere’s Ward Initiative Improvement Scheme.

Cllr Eddie Roach, Potters Bar Parkfield, has allocated £1,502.38 to pay for bows, arrows, targets and associated equipment which will enable the club to be set up. Girl Guides, Brownies and Sunbeams in the area will all benefit.

Cllr Roach explained: "This is a new idea and I am delighted to support it. Hopefully the benefits will be two-fold - it is something a little bit different for the current members and will teach new skills, but I hope it will also attract new members. I hope they will get many hours of enjoyment out of it for years to come."

Elsewhere in the area, Cllr Tugay Sevincli, Potters Bar Oakmere, has donated £200 towards new signs and balls for the Potters Bar Petanque Club and £288 towards tablecloths for the 60+ club at Wyllyotts, Potters Bar.

Local people can make a bid for cash to improve the area they live in by using WIIS, which allows each Hertsmere councillor to spend £2,000 to support local projects and schemes.
