Young people in Potters Bar are set to benefit from the latest raft of cash being given by councillors to local projects.
Cllr Shirley Legate has donated all of her £2,000 Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS) money to help set up a club for young people aged eight and over to be held at the Wayside Jubilee Centre.
It will buy equipment including an Xbox, a Wii, two televisions, pool equipment, table tennis equipment, an air hockey table and table football.
Cllr Legate explained: "I wanted to spend my allocation on something long lasting for the community. The idea is that the club will bring young people together to socialise, play tournaments and encourage team spirit."
Young people will also benefit following donations totalling £2,205.44 to Potters Bar educational and creative group ACT 4. The money allocated by Cllrs Christine Calcutt (£1,989.44) and Robert Calcutt (£216) will be used to buy new software and a projector.
Elsewhere in Potters Bar, Cllr Tugay Sevincli has allocated £1,500 towards a new boiler and radiators for the Wayside Jubilee Centre and Cllr Robert Calcutt has allocated £629 for a new computer for Relate.
Local people can make a bid for cash to improve the area they live in by using WIIS, which allows each Hertsmere councillor to spend £2,000 on projects within their ward.
