The details of candidates standing for elections this year have been published.

There are 13 seats up for election on Hertsmere Borough Council, along with three seats on Aldenham Parish Council. The election takes place on Thursday, 1 May 2008 between 7am and 10pm. Votes will be counted and the results announced the following day.
To vote in the forthcoming elections you must be registered. If you are unsure if you are registered or not please contact us on 020 8207 7481 or email electoral.registration@hertsmere.gov.uk
You can then vote in person at a polling station, by proxy (where you nominate someone to vote on your behalf) or by post.
Voting in person at a polling station:
A poll card will be sent to you about five weeks before an election. If you have not received your poll card then you should contact us. The card tells you the address of the polling station where you should vote. Please note that you must vote at your allocated polling station. It is helpful if you can take your poll card with you, but you don't have to.
Voting by proxy:
To have a proxy vote, forms have to be completed and returned to us by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April. Proxy voting involves another person voting on your behalf. You can have someone vote on your behalf if:
- you will be away on holiday
- you have to work away from home
- you are in hospital, or otherwise ill.
Voting by post:
You will receive your ballot paper by post before the election and need to post it back. To apply to vote by post you need to apply and forms have to be completed and returned by 5pm on Wednesday 16 April.
