Residents across the Borehamwood area are benefitting thanks to the latest allocations from Hertsmere’s Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme.
Local people can make a bid for cash to improve the area they live in by using WIIS, which allows each Hertsmere councillor to spend £2,000 on local projects.
The latest allocations are:
Cllr Ernie Butler - Borehamwood Cowley Hill ward - £500 towards the Com.unity choir buying a new printer.
Cllr Ann Harrison - Borehamwood Cowley Hill ward - £500 towards toys and equipment for the Big Top after school club held at Meryfield School, Borehamwood and £500 towards skills coaching for young people.
Cllr Pat Strack - Borehamwood Kenilworth ward - £300 towards improvement works at the entrance to Woodcock Hill Village Green in Milton Drive, Borehamwood.
Cllr Andrew Zucker - Borehamwood Brookmeadow ward - £391.04 towards materials, dance wear and microphones for the Theatre Club Kids, Borehamwood.
Elsewhere in the area work has now started on installing outdoor exercise equipment in Parkfields, Elstree, thanks to the pooling of funds.
Elstree ward borough councillors Morris Bright and Derrick Gunasekera both allocated their whole £2,000 WIIS budget to go with £3,000 which was provided by county councillors Alan Plancey and Caroline Clapper (£2K and £1K respectively)for six items of special weatherproof equipment - a skier, rider, body twist, rowing machine, cross rider and cycle to go into the park. Hertsmere Borough Council contributed £500 towards this.
