A birthday tea, a festive lunch and visits to the emergency services kept Hertsmere Mayor Cllr Martin Heywood busy over Christmas.
On Christmas Eve the Mayor, with the Mayoress Cllr Jean Heywood visited Bushey to wish Maud Ladd a happy 100th birthday and present her with her birthday cake.
Then on Christmas Day the Mayor delivered tokens of appreciation to the fire, police and ambulance stations in Borehamwood and to the fire and ambulance stations in Potters Bar.
Next stop was the Wyllyotts Centre in Potters Bar where Churches Together put on a Christmas lunch for elderly and vulnerable members of the community.
Cllr Heywood said: "There are many people who have to work over Christmas time and I just wanted to show my appreciation to some of those and to say thank you for all that they do within the community.
"Additionally there are many people who are alone at Christmas, who perhaps do not have a big support network around them and it is important that we take time to think of them too."
