Residents of Potters Bar will be receiving their ballot papers in the post next week to enable them to vote on whether or not they want a parish council.
Votes are being sent to every resident on the electoral register in Potters Bar so they can have their say on the issue. Ballot papers need to be returned to the council by Thursday 23 October.
Anyone who has responded to this year's canvass with a change of address will not receive a vote at their new address as the electoral register cannot be updated until 1 December. However, anyone who isn't registered to vote can still give their views to us via email to pottersbarparish@hertsmere.gov.uk or by writing to:
- Potters Bar Parish Community Review
Democratic Services
Hertsmere Borough Council
Civic Offices
Elstree Way
Borehamwood
Herts
WD6 1WA
Local businesses and other organisations are also being consulted and are encouraged to give their views to us as above.
The vote comes after two petitions were handed to the council last year - one for and one against the establishment of a parish council.
Leader of the council, Morris Bright said: "It's very important residents of Potters Bar have their say on whether or not they want a parish council.
"The decision on whether Potters Bar should have a parish council will be based on the numbers who vote for or against it so it is imperative that everyone uses their vote."
If you don't receive your ballot paper by the end of September please contact Electoral Registration on 020 8207 7481 or email electoral.registration@hertsmere.gov.uk
