Open and derelict properties
The Public Health Team ensure that empty properties are kept secure and free from rubbish.
Empty dwellings can be an eyesore and attractive to vermin. They are also a waste of an important local resource whilst thousands of families and individuals are waiting for an affordable home. If you know of a dwelling which:
- Has been empty a long time
- Is open or insecure
- Is a danger to the public
- Is an eyesore
- Is causing rubbish or vermin problems
Please tell the Council using the online form or by email to - housing@hertsmere.gov.uk
If you are an empty property owner enquiring about council tax due on your property, please contact the Revenues section - revenues@hertsmere.gov.uk , or use the linked form. But please also consider making better use of your property rather than leaving it empty – contact the housing team as above for advice.
