Out of hours support

Environmental Health provides an Out of Hours Service for Emergency responses to a range of issues.

What if you need to contact Environmental Health during the evening, at night or the weekend?

We know that not all unexpected major problems happen during normal office hours or can wait until the next day. Environmental Health provides an Out of Hours Officer who is there to help with these emergencies.

Who will answer the phone?

An operator will answer the phone and take details of the problem and your contact details. They will then pass this information over to the duty Officer if it is a matter that they will be able to help you with.

What happens next?

The duty Environmental Health Officer will contact you and give you advice and guidance over the phone on how to deal with the problem, or they will either:

  • recommend that you contact another more appropriate agency.
  • refer the matter on to the normal staff the next working day.
  • visit you.

When does the service operate?

Normal office hours are 9:00am till 5:15pm, Monday till Thursday and until 5:00pm Friday.  If you have an unexpected problem outside these office hours, you should ring 0845 300 0021

The team is made up of experienced and qualified Enviromental Health Officers

What sort of problems can the Out of Hours Officer deal with?

If you have any problem which cannot wait until normal office hours then do contact the Out of Hours Officer.

  • complaints of loud music and other noise
  • pollution incidents
  • urgent public health matters
