Christmas card and tree recycling

Please remember to recycle your Christmas cards and real Christmas trees in the New Year.

Councillor Jean Heywood, Environment Portfolio Holder, said: "Many people are involved in recycling throughout the year and at Christmas time we all have additional waste so we are trying to make it as easy as possible for people to recycle all those extras. So when all the celebrations are over, please spare a few minutes to recycle all you can."

Christmas cards:
Throughout January you can take your Christmas cards to any Asda, Marks and Spencer, Morrisons or Sainsbury’s - or drop them in one of our special bins at:

  • Reception at Civic Offices, Borehamwood
  • Kemp Place car park or Costco car park, Bushey
  • Furzefield centre car park, Potters Bar
  • Newberries car park, Radlett
  • Andrews Close, Shenley

Real Christmas trees:
Take your real Christmas trees to one of our shredding events, 11am to 2pm:

  • Thursday 5 January - Kemp Place car park, off the High Street, Bushey
  • Friday 6 January - The Venue leisure centre car park, Elstree Way, Borehamwood
  • Saturday 7 January - Oakmere Park car park, High Street, Potters Bar
  • Sunday 8 January - Newberries car park, Watling Street, Radlett

Or you can cut up real trees and put the pieces in your green bin or take them to a Household Waste Recycling Centre at Allum Lane, Elstree, or Cranborne Road, Potters Bar, open every day except New Year's Day.

Please remove all decorations from your tree before you recycle it.
