Make a New Year's resolution to recycle more!

The pine needles may have dropped and the wrapping paper been well and truly ripped, so why not turn your attention to giving something back this festive season.
At this time of year about 30% more rubbish is produced so please remember to try to reduce, reuse and recycle your waste.
Councillor Jean Heywood, Environment Portfolio Holder, said: "At this time of year a lot more waste is created with excess food, wrapping paper and people throwing away their old things to make room for new presents.
"So why not make a New Year's resolution to do more for the environment and start by recycling your Christmas cards and real Christmas tree."
You can recycle your real Christmas tree by taking it to a Household Waste Recycling Centre or get it shredded at one of our tree recycling events. The first 100 people to bring their tree for recycling each day will get a free grow your own Christmas tree kit! Shredding is available between 11am and 2pm as follows:
- Monday 4 January – The Venue car park, Borehamwood
- Tuesday 5 January – Newberries car park, Radlett
- Wednesday 6 January – Oakmere car park, Potters Bar
- Thursday 7 January – Kemp Place car park, Bushey
Please remove all decorations from your tree before you recycle it.
You can recycle your Christmas cards through the Woodland Trust scheme at T.K. Maxx, WHSmith and Marks and Spencer until 31 January.
Household Waste Recycling Centres are open every day except New Year's Day and are located at:
- Elstree, Allum Lane
- Potters Bar, Cranborne Road
- Watford, Wiggenhall Road
