Vote for your favourite Green Flag park

Last month, six of Hertsmere’s parks were awarded with a Green Flag Award – a sign that they are among the best in the country.  But the awards don’t stop there, all six sites also have the chance to win the People’s Choice Award.

This award is voted for by the public, so if you want to see your local park receive another national accolade as the people's choice, then make sure you cast your vote.

The six parks with Green Flags are Aberford Park in Borehamwood, Bushey Rose Garden, King George Recreation Ground and Fishers Field Local Nature Reserve in Bushey, and Oakmere Park and Parkfield in Potters Bar.

All have been judged to be well-maintained and well-managed with excellent facilities.    The People’s Choice Award is an online vote that gives the public the power to decide which one of the 1,290 parks or green spaces awarded with a Green Flag or Community Award should be named the site of the year.

Councillor Jean Heywood, Environment Portfolio Holder, said: "We were absolutely thrilled that our parks did so well in the Green Flag Awards but now it’s down to the public to get involved and vote for their favourite park.  If you want your local park to get the recognition it deserves cast your vote now!"

Paul Todd, Green Flag Award scheme manager added: "Competition is fierce so we urge everyone to get voting if they want to see their local park pick up the award."

Voting closes at midday on 12 September; the winner and runners up will be announced on 21 September.

Vote now - it only takes a few seconds!
