New glass banks in Aldenham

Residents in Aldenham can now recycle their glass bottles and jars more conveniently.
New glass recycling banks for green, brown and clear glass have been installed in the car park at Aldenham Social Club in Church Lane following requests from residents for local facilities.
Councillor Jean Heywood, Environment Portfolio Holder, said: "We have recycling points across the borough but some residents in Aldenham wanted somewhere more local to recycle their glass so we looked in the area for a suitable place.
"Recycling glass has many benefits. It reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill - which is really important as landfill space is rapidly running out - and it also saves energy and lessens our impact on the planet's limited resources.
"In addition, glass is perfect for recycling as it can be recycled back into new bottles and jars over and over again without affecting the quality of the product."
Any glass placed on the floor around the banks will not be recycled but sent to landfill. The banks will be emptied regularly by contractors but if one is full, please call 020 8207 7480.
