'Big Tidy Up' in North Bushey

A team of employees from Smiths Detection in Bushey got busy tackling the litter in surrounding streets.
Last Friday 26 September local company, Smiths Detection took part in a community litter pick as part of the Keep Britain Tidy - 'Big Tidy Up'
campaign.
Around 15 staff from the company, equipped with hi visibility waistcoats, gloves, bags and litter pickers provided by Hertsmere Borough Council, picked their way around the local streets in North Bushey including Friars Way, Robin Hood Drive and Park Avenue as well as local parks.

The event was a huge success with 17 bags of general rubbish and 6 bags of recycling collected.


The company, which provides products to detect and identify chemical and biological material and other dangerous and illegal objects worldwide, advertised the event in the local area through posters and press releases. Internally it was advertised on their own environmental information boards.

On top of this community event, the company are big recyclers with office recycling bins everywhere in the building. The collections include food waste, plastic, cardboard, paper, batteries, cans and cups.
So lets hope more companies follow in Smiths Detections fine example!
