Cafe completed at Aberford Park

A Green Flag has been raised at Aberford Park in Borehamwood to mark the completion of a cafe and toilets.

The new facilities have been built next to the community centre so visitors to the park will be able to enjoy something to eat and drink in the beautiful surroundings.

The park was awarded a Green Flag Award last year, which is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales.  The park was judged to be welcoming and well maintained with the support and involvement of the local community and the plans for a café and toilets helped secure the award.

The flag was raised yesterday, Wednesday 13 May, by representatives from the council and the building company Total Construction.

Steve Burton, Head of Street Scene, said: "The cafe and toilets are a welcome addition to the park which really has something for everyone - a beautiful lake and fountain, play areas, a skate park and wildlife.

"The new facility will mean that visitors can have an ice cream on the patio when the sun's out and a hot drink inside in the colder months."

The café will open later this year once caterers have been appointed.
