FREE child car seat checks

How do you know your child car seat is fitted properly?

Research shows that:

  • Eight out of 10 car seats in Hertfordshire are not fitted correctly
  • 7,696 of under 11 year olds were injured in cars in 2004
  • 2,215 of these were under four years
  • 24 children died

To highlight the issue, Hertsmere Borough Council is working in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council Road Safety Unit and offering free checks.

Cllr Brenda Batten, portfolio holder for health, said: "It's shocking that 80% of car seats do not restrain children sufficiently, putting them in serious danger if there is an accident.

"Getting your car seats checked will not take long and could save your child's life. Even better it is free, so please do come along."
