Clean up to win

Just by being a responsible dog-owner could land you a prize.

Hertsmere Borough Council officers are often out and about in the borough, carrying out inspections and meeting people and if they see you scoop up after your dog poops then don't be surprised if they approach you.

Cllr Jean Heywood, portfolio holder for environment, explained: "Our officers are out and about in the borough and when they see someone clearing up after their own dog, they are approaching them to thank them for being a responsible pet owner.

"They will then be handed a postcard to fill in and send back to us for entry into a free prize draw - it's so easy and you could win something.

"Dog mess is unpleasant to say the least and a health hazard so we really want to encourage people to clean up after their own pets for the benefit of everyone else."

So, if your dog poops while you are out, remember to scoop as you never know who will be watching!

Winners will be picked at random once every three months and prizes will vary.
