Primary school children across the borough can kick off their summer holidays by entering a fun competition designed to raise awareness about recycling.
The winner will win a goody bag full of energy saving and recycled items such as a water powered calculator, wind-up torch and a stationary set made from elephant poo! All they have to do is create something new from something old - this could be anything from a collage using old newspapers, fabric and magazines to a sculpture using toilet roll tubes, yogurt pots and plastic bottles - it's completely up to them. The more imaginative, the better!
To enter simply take a photo of your finished piece and send it to the Community Waste Officer at Hertsmere Borough Council with a completed entry form which you can get from your school, as part of the council's Waste and Recycling schools' newsletter, or by downloading it below:

The competition is open to four to 11 year olds and all entries must be received by Friday 3rd August. The winner will be notified the following week.
