Give old furniture a new home

If you are about to throw out a sofa or a table and chairs, before you do, could someone else make use of it?
Hertsmere Borough Council has teamed up with The Peace Hospice charity shop in Borehamwood to give old furniture a new home.
Councillor Jean Heywood, Environment Portfolio Holder, explained: "If residents enquire about getting rid of large items of furniture, we will put them in contact with The Peace Hospice which can collect items for free, providing they are in a good, safe condition.
"So instead of perfectly good items of furniture getting dumped or thrown into landfill, they'll be sold in the shop and reused by others, who might be on a low income."
Steve Rose, Retail Director at The Peace Hospice, said: "We at The Peace Hospice are delighted to work with Hertsmere Borough Council. It is so nice to be involved in a project that benefits the community from every angle.
"All money raised in our shops supports The Peace Hospice, which cares for people living with a life limiting or terminal illness and supports their families across Hertsmere and South West Hertfordshire."
If you have any unwanted items, you can either take them along to the shop in Shenley Road or call The Peace Hospice direct on 020 8953 1985. Electrical items can also be accepted, subject to conditions.
The Peace Hospice will usually pick up from Bushey and Potters Bar but it might depend on what it is and what they already have in the shop. They reserve the right to decline inappropriate donations.
Steve added: "We sell a whole range of furniture and other items at great prices. It really is win, win all round!"
