Keep your pet under control

Hertsmere dog owners are being reminded that they could face a fine if they don’t clear up after their pet and keep them under control.
As part of Hertsmere Borough Council’s Pride in Hertsmere campaign, the council is set to extend the issuing of fixed penalty notices to include dog fouling.
Councillor Jean Heywood, Environment Portfolio Holder, said: "It’s great at this time of year to take the dog out for a walk, but residents must remember to be responsible for their pet. In order for everyone to enjoy spending time in the borough's parks and open spaces, they need to be kept clean and most of all be safe places for all the family to play, picnic and relax in."
You could be issued with a fixed penalty notice if:
- you don’t clear up after your dog
- you don’t keep your dog out of play areas and other specified places
- you don’t put your dog on a lead when asked to do so by an authorised council officer or Police Community Support Officer
Residents will be able to visit a number of road shows in July and August to find out more about the issuing of these fines in Hertsmere.
Events will be taking place on:
- Thursday 15 July - outside Co-op on High Road, Bushey - 11am-2pm (Spotlight day)
- Saturday 17 July - King George Recreation Ground, Bushey - 11am-3pm (Dog show)
