Pointer is picture perfect

Mango, a lemon pointer who scooped top prize in Hertsmere's annual Companion Dog Show, was officially presented with his prize on Monday 18 September.

Mayor Cllr Martin Heywood presented Mango's owners Paul and Joan Kern with a portrait of their four-legged friend, painted by local artist Helen Cooksley.

Helen, from Bushey, donated the oil painting for free. "The painting took two weeks to complete and I am delighted Mango's owners liked it. I always try to capture the spirit of the animal, which I feel I have done."

The oil painting of Mango, who won overall best in show at Hertsmere Borough Council's summer dog show, took Helen two weeks to complete.

The Companion Dog Show took place on Saturday 15 July at the King George Recreation Ground as part of the Bushey Festival.
