Paddling pool
The paddling pool and sand pit in Bushey will open for the summer season on Saturday 26 May and will close in early September (depending on weather). For further details visit the King George Recreation Ground page.

Parks and Amenities produce a biannual newsletter with latest news on our parks and community across the borough such as improvement schemes, events and Friends Groups' activities.

Community involvement
Community involvement is positively encouraged and some Friends Groups have already been established. New members are always welcome.
A Freephone parks helpline (0800 731 1810) allows park users to be actively involved in the management of parks by reporting any difficulties or problems directly to Parks and Amenities.
Art in the Parks
The parks team have introduced art into the Borough's parks. King George Recreation Ground in Bushey, awarded a Green Flag Park Award, for example, is well worth a visit for the 'Caterpillar Column' and the 'Family' sculpture. An unusual 'Tree of Life' sculpture can been seen in our other Green Flag winner Oakmere Park in Potters Bar. In Parkfield, Potters Bar you will find a carved tree sculpture amongst the meadow.
Events
The parks play host to regular annual events from Easter Egg Hunts to Jazz on a summer afternoon. For a list of current events see the Events page.
Cafes
There are two cafes in our parks:
La Dolce Vita cafe - King George Recreation Ground, Bushey
A warm welcome awaits you at the cafe in the park. The cafe offers an array of mouth-watering dishes.
Aberford Park cafe - Borehamwood
Visitors to the park can now enjoy hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams in the cafe which opened in August 2010. The cafe is situated next to the community hall and the children's play area. It is open every day between 10am and 5pm. Winter opening hours (November to March) vary so please call 020 8953 4967 to check.
